Chica

Harcourt Brace & Company Inc, New York, 1954, 114 pp, illus Joe Krush

Billy has wanted a horse of his own. He is given a skinny little cowpony named Chica, but he
is disappointed because she isn’t very friendly. She is a challenge to catch, mischievous, and
also is head-shy. Winning her affection took long hours and lots of patience, but Billy persevered
and by the end of the summer had gentled Chica into the kind of horse he had long dreamed of
owning.
